Tribute ProjectsSeptember 27th '98

With today's (Sept 26th) archiving of the May-July news items, we have started a new page dedicated to Stranglers tribute projects, available via our "Reference Articles" area. This page currently features information on the "No More Heroes" US compilation album and "No More Heroes" the Nottingham (UK) based tribute band. Reviews and live photos are now included.

Here's a chance for anyone planning to see the Stranglers on the final date of the UK tour to also see No More Heroes, at a free special event during the afternoon. At 1pm in the Kings Head (very close to the Shepherds Bush Empire), No More Heroes will play a free gig. The idea is to make a full day of Stranglers music, finishing off with the Stranglers in the evening. The event is expected to attract a capacity crowd, so anyone who wants to attend should be there by 1pm.

New MerchandiseSeptember 22nd '98

A new line of merchandise is now available from the band's merchandiser. A new "Merchandise" page, detailing these items has been placed in our "Reference Articles" area.

Manic Street Preachers in Hot Water with Stranglers' PublishersSeptember 12th '98

Apparently, the band's publishers are very upset with the Manic Street Preachers, who have allegedly used part of "Duchess" for their number one hit "If you tolerate this your children will be next". Time will tell if this matter goes to court. JJ has been quoted on UK teletext as inviting the Manics to the release of the new album to see if there are any other riffs or lines they might want to use.

Further comments on this situation can be found on the New Musical Express site.

Lawrence Gowan to Support UK Tour September 7th '98

Lawrence Gowan will be the opening act for the Stranglers on all the upcoming British dates (see below). The Scottish-born piano player/singer/performer will be familiar to Canadian fans, as he now lives in Toronto and has been prevalent in the Canadian music scene for many years.

Other Tour News August 19th '98

JJ tells us that a New Zealand concert could well happen in January '99. Watch this page for further details.

SIS OnLine Update August 9th '98

The office of SIS OnLine has moved from Louisiana to Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, to be precise). The only discernable change to our service is that our email address has changed to liggins@icdc.com. We've been off-line since July 29th, while our computer suffered the rigors of being trucked 1300 miles; luckily, the computer seems to have survived, and we're looking forward to re-establishing contact with the internet Stranglers community from our new location.

Dave on TVAugust 9th '98

On 28th July, Dave Greenfield appeared on Channel Four's "Absolutely Animals" with his rats.
