Jet Update
|
September 3rd 2007
|
Following a flood of birthday wishes, Jet wants to say a big thank you to all the well wishers,
although he tells us that he is actually trying to forget about the subject!
As for his general health position, he is continuing to make gradual progress and playing gigs is not so much an issue
these days as getting to them.
He tells us that "Air travel continues to become ever more unpleasant" as a food poisoning incident on the way back from Japan highlighted.
Consequently, "Getting around the world is the real problem, not so much playing the gigs."
So, as far as can be predicted, Jet intends to be appearing whenever and wherever possible.

|
Many of you who had contact with the UK-based SIS office during the 1990's will be familiar with
Chris Winfield. Chris helped Marian in the office and was also involved in supplying information to the Rat's Lair
in our early years.
Sadly, we have to report that Chris passed away last week, following a long illness. Our sympathies and thoughts go out to
her family and friends.
Donations can be made to the MacMillan Cancer Trust.

George Melly Dies
|
July 6th 2007

|
It saddens us to report that George Melly, the jazz singer, author and personality passed away today.
To Stranglers fans, he is probably best known for providing the vocals to "Old Codger", one of the B-Sides to the 1978 single
"Walk on By".
The BBC obituary can be found here.
Jet has kindly provided an obituary from his and the band's perspective. We have placed this on a separate page:

Jet Update
|
June 10th 2007
|
First off, a big "Thank You" to everyone who has written to wish Jet well and/or enquire as to his
recovery.
Jet would especially like to thank Lucy for the wonderful home-made "Get Well Soon" card.
Last weekend Jet played the Spanish gig and reports that all went well. However, travel to the Isle of
Man presented some endurance issues
that prevented Jet from performing at the gig. Jet tells us that he will be striving to do all
the shows that don't appear to present any particular problems from a travel point of view. However,
he may have to miss one or two in some of the more out of the way places until his physical resources are
able to cope with the rigours of touring.
