Punk's Not Dead

The producers of the independent documentary film "Punk's Not Dead" are looking for live or press photos of the Stranglers from the 1970s. If you have any suitable material, please contact them at: contact@punksnotdeadthemovie.com.

The film is at the end of post-production, so a quick response is being requested.

1974/1975 Gigs

We have been asked to put a call out for date/venue information from the early years of 1974 and 1975, in order to assist in the compilation of a new biography. Any information can be emailed directly to us. All submissions gratefully accepted.

Autumn Dates

October 18th 2005 REVISED

October 18th: Important information for London gig added.

* IMPORTANT: The Shepherd's Bush gig will have the unusually early start time of 8:15pm, to accommodate the following special program:

8:15 -- Stranglers acoustic set.
9:00 -- Premiere of the film "Norfolk Coast", staring Susannah York, Nicholas Ball, Lynsey Baxter and the band.
9:30 approx -- Live show.

The show will be filmed for release as a DVD, accompanied by the film.

* Headlining "The Longest Day", with Stiff Little Fingers, the Beat, Anti-Nowhere League and others TBA.

As always, scheduled appearances may be subject to changes beyond the control of the band, their management or agents -- so please check with the venue before travelling.

JJ Solo Gigs

November 12th 2005 REVISED

Sound Control, in association with Ashdown Engineering and Fender present "An Evening with Jean Jacques Burnel". Dates as follows:

Venue box office numbers are in red. All the others are Sound Control numbers local to the venue.

In response to the emails and phone call they have been receiving regarding the content of these shows, Sound Control tell us that these are planned to be more intimate gigs than on the "Songs and Stories" tour. JJ will be bringing along his bass, demonstrating and discussing his bass lines, technique and how to capture his sound. He will also be playing his acoustic guitar, chatting to the crowd and answering questions. There should be some of his solo merchandise on sale, which he will autograph. We are also informed that every evening is likely to be different from the night before. In addition, JJ has told us that while the content has not been finalized, it may include some new material that the band are currently working on.

Anyone attending one of these gigs and filling in their ticket stub has a chance to win a Fender Precision Bass signed by JJ.

Gankutsuou DVD/Broadcast

September 21st 2005

	October 25th will see the North American DVD release of the first volume of "Gankutsuou", the Japanese animated series featuring JJ Burnel's soundtrack work. This release will be on the "Geneon" label.
	On the same day, a "box set" will also be released. This will include volume one and will also provide storage for volumes 2-6 (not included) once they are released.
The release schedule is: Vol. 1: Oct 25 2005 Vol. 2: Jan 10 2006 Vol. 3: Mar 14 2006 Vol. 4: May 9 2006 Vol. 5: Jul 11 2006 Vol. 6: Sep 12 2006 The DVD features are: English Dolby Digital 2.0 Japanese Dolby Digital 2.0 English Subtitles Anamorphic Widescreen 16.9

There are no plans for North American Broadcast.

In France, broadcasting will begin from September 4th (at 20:10) on Cine Cinema, CineFamiz. The show will be dubbed into French.

Digital Daydreams

August 16th 2005

Released on DVD on October 3rd, this Bill Wyman film from 1983 features a brief cameo appearance of JJ with Charlie Watts, at the Wyman family home. Apparently, they both happened to be hanging around there and got themselves on film.

This release is from "Classic Pictures".

New Album in Progress

In between shows (see below), the band are currently rehearsing and demo-ing songs for their 16th studio album. This work is in the early stages, so no title or release date as yet.

* "Academy in the UK" all-day event, Stranglers headlining. Event will run from 2pm to 2am, other bands currently scheduled to appear are: Stiff Little Fingers, The Beat, The Buzzcocks and Goldblade, among others.

* 15km outside Brussels.

* Free concert at the Pier Head Main Stage, Liverpool. Stranglers due on stage at 14.00. Gold Blade and the Buzzcocks appearing before the Stranglers.

JJ in Movie Role

May 28th 2005

JJ will be starring in a short movie (approximately 25 minutes) called "Norfolk Coast". The director is Robin Bextor, the producer is Sanjay Kumar and the film will co-star Susannah York. Apparently, this should be getting a TV showing later this year and is being entered into the Sundance Festival.

SIS Japan Website: Update

May 25th 2005 REVISED

The SIS Japan's website, which opened in April 2005 can now be found at: www.stranglers.jp. This site is run by Rieko Maruki and Yuka Takahashi and is primarily in Japanese.

Email in Japanese should be sent to Rieko and email in English should be sent to Yuka.

Faith Band/Soulsec: Live dates

March 22nd 2005 REVISED

A new Faithband DVD is now available. Entitled "Tracks", this release features a compilation of clips from various gigs recorded between 2000 and 2003. It includes the acoustic MP3tv session with Baz, as well as footage from the Solar Live charity recording and the "Pressure Sensitive" and "Wrong Connection" tours.

Due to demand, the "Wrong Connection" single has been re-released as a 3" CD.

The band has also undergone a name change and will now be known as "Soulsec". The new official webpage (from which the above releases can be pre-ordered) is: soulsec.com.

March 23rd: The Borderline, London W1D [5th Anniversary Gig]

May 15th: Rockardinal Festival, Brussels, Belgium

The Bedford gig will be part of a small festival. Several bands will play about 2 songs each: Paul and Soulsec will play 4 or 5 songs.

The Brussels gig will be the first concert outside the UK.

Baz DVD Recording

On March 5th, Baz played a solo gig at Potters bar in Langley Mill. This concert was filmed, for possible release on a DVD.
