The Doc Martens Gig

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Stranglers (which happened to be 11th September 1999), the folks at Doctor Martens produced a limited edition boot. This black boot, with embossed rat logo was limited to 100 copies.

On 10th September 1999, the Dr. Martens store in Covent Garden, London, hosted the band for a 25 minute live set. As well as celebrating the Stranglers' quarter-century, this appearance was intended to promote both the boot and the upcoming EMI compilation "Hits and Heroes". Presented jointly by EMI and Dr. Martens, the gig was attended by about 300 fans and broadcast live over the internet as a video "web cast".

The track list for this event was:

No More Heroes; Coup de Grace; Valley of the Birds; Always the Sun; Golden Brown; Strange Little Girl; Duchess.

Following the set, fans were able to get autographs etc.. An interview was also conducted with the band. And, apparently, the boots sold out...
