Stranglers return to Hammersmith

The Stranglers return to the legendary Hammersmith Odeon (now Apollo) for their first gig there since a three-night residency on the second Dreamtime tour in March 1987.
The gig will form part of a 16-date UK tour in February and March next year celebrating five decades of touring.
The band also previously played at the Odeon in February 1983, where the band took umbrage at the behaviour of the bouncers and left the stage after four songs. They refused to come back till the bouncers had been removed; they were and the night ended with seats being smashed. The next night was cancelled.
They also played there in 1982 on the La Folie tour and in 1976 with Patti Smith.
The capacity at Hammersmith has been increased since then as -- thankfully -- the downstairs is now all standing.
Tickets are selling very well and it promises to be a great atmosphere!
The tour sees them covering the whole length of the UK with gigs from Aberdeen down to Southampton. The tour kicks off with a trio of gigs north of the border including their first Dunfermline show since 1978.
A very quick apology to any Scottish fans that were upset by the slight misspelling of the town's name on early versions of the poster and tour advert. The mistake was picked up quickly by an eagle eyed Scot and was put right immediately.
To those fans unlucky enough to miss out on tickets for the sold-out pre Christmas gig at Leamington Spa Assembly, there are a couple of gigs within easy reach on the spring tour at Birmingham and Nottingham so book early to avoid disappointment as they are both popular dates on any tour.
Tickets are available through the usual websites and the links are given for each date of the tour in the listing to the left. See you there...
